Thank You 2017

December 30, 2017

We Made It!

The last few months of this year have been imbroglio. I mean complete commotion. To be honest, sometimes I didn't think I would make it out alive or with the same ebullient, optimistic, and friendly characteristics that I possess. When I say life knocked me down, I mean I was almost O.U.T. Surprisingly, this challenge came while I started to receive various opportunities that I only dreamed of. Opportunities to develop my musical abilities and leadership skills. Along with this, I was transitioning from being a vibrant background singer to leading sets and singing in the forefront. This was and continues to be a season of great expectancy accompanied by unbelievable excruciating pain. It's been hard to maneuver through my obstacles, but I'm grateful for the central message that I learned in 2017.

"If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small."
- Proverbs 24:10

Now this is not to say that when you're provoked by overwhelming challenges to feel completely engulfed by stress, frustration, and hopelessness that you should continue to work hard and push yourself to prove that your strong. No way! Take a well-deserved break from EVERYTHING if you have to. Slow down, indrench yourself with sober minded god-fearing people, and take some time to figure out your next step. Why? Because hardships and trials are meant to develop quality character in you not to disable and stunt your emotional and mental growth for the rest of your life.

So, my final lesson from 2017 is that through being put in fire you will quickly uncover your values, your mindset, your emotional intelligence, and your level of maturity (self-awareness). After discovering and embracing the beauty of who you are you'll begin to believe in yourself which leads to freedom to live life on your terms. You will also develop a sense of self-trust and discernment that will help you make hard decisions
as you navigate through all the different seasons of your life.

This lesson of trusting yourself will forever be engraved on my heart. Although my test nearly destroyed me, I believe that I survived this trying time, so I could share this principle with all of you.

Until next time,
Stay blessed and Happy New Year
