Do You Know Who You Are?

February 24, 2018

"Never compare yourself to anyone."
- Tee Forever

This is such simple advice, but if you apply it, it literally changes everything! We waste too much time comparing ourselves to people (especially the ones we don't know!) and feeling insecure! Com'on! Let's be honest. I know I've done it! Truthfully, our enemy is not people, it's how we view ourselves.

"What you think of yourself is much more important than what people think of you."
- Unknown

So, what! You haven't achieved your 5-year goal, you're not married with kids like you thought you would be, and you don't know your clear, definite purpose. There is no time limit for some of these things. Whose standard are you following? Whose race are you running? Listen to me. Enjoy your process and embrace your story. Life is all about growth through trial and error. We plan, make mistakes, get up and start building again. It's all good! Yes, you might've disappointed a few people, and yes you might feel like a snail, but honestly, there is more to life than achieving goals and hitting targets.

"Do you know who you are?"
- Tee Forever

Really. Do you know who you are? Don't tell me about the roles you play (mother, student, employee, entrepreneur, etc.), your strengths (speaking, dancing, administration, etc.), or where you come from. Tell me WHO you are. I want to be very clear. Your identity is not tied up in anything you've done or will do. Your identity is found in the fact that you're loved by God. Bam! I just dropped a bomb on you guys. It probably went over your head so, let me say that again. You are valuable because God chose you. When He created you He said, "this one is perfect, this one is valuable, this one is approved, this one is loved." All that means is, "this one is good."  This is a little deep, I know, and you probably didn't come here for all that, but there's no way I could talk about your real identity and value without mentioning God.

So, here's what I want you to take away from this. Your value and your identity can never be derived from external preferences, achievements, or lack thereof. You are highly esteemed right now, even before you've accomplished anything. You were created with value embedded in you and no one or nothing can shift or change your worth.

How To Maximize Your Life

February 19, 2018

"Life is a journey, with
problems to solve,
lessons to learn, but most of all,
experiences to enjoy"
- Unknown

Take a moment right now to review your life over the past 2 years. Has it been a steady, progressive journey? I doubt it. Do you still hold some of the same beliefs about yourself or your values? Are you facing some of the same issues or difficulties? Are you hitting any clear targets/goals? Well, let me remind you of something my friend!

- Maya Angelou
Click To Tweet!

Just like the quality of your relationships, education, and fitness, your results in life are dependent on your actions. How much effort are you putting into hitting your goals? Consider entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg, Michael Bloomberg, and Jeff Bezos
. They trained themselves to do the daily activities they don't want to do in exchange for a glorious future version of themselves and an incredibly successful business. When we see successful people, we're only seeing a snapshot of their journey. We all know that they didn't start at the top, but we treat them like they did.

"Take a lesson from the ants,
you lazybones. Learn from their ways
and become wise!"
- Proverbs
-
Don't get it twisted. Life hasn't been EASY for anyone. I repeat, no one has had an easy life. Contrary to popular belief, everyone encounters challenges. You probably didn't get as much help, opportunities, or mentoring as someone else, BUT that doesn't disqualify them from being able to say "the struggle is real". You have financial challenges, but maybe they have relational, identity, or physical challenges. What do you gain from comparing your life to someone else? How much closer to your goals are you when your envious? This way of thinking only keeps you in a cycle of excuses!

"You will always harvest what you plant"
- Paul The Apostle

Accept your story, create a plan for what you want to create, and start building it one step at a time. Your results will always reflect your effort. If you work on establishing a foundation of integrity, self-discipline and focus in yourself, you will build a strong empire.

How To Put Your Knowledge & Faith Into Action

February 17, 2018

"Knowledge is power,
but enthusiasm pulls the switch."
- Irvern Ball

In North America we live in a culture that focuses on continual growth and self-education. This is not a bad thing! The only challenge I've noticed with this, is that sometimes we get stuck being students. We become filled with knowledge and having little to no experience or practice can leave us feeling incomplete. I know I'm not the only one that's felt this way?! If you feel me, keep reading! I promise I won't leave you without a solution.

- Anton Chekhov
Click to tweet

We've all heard this saying in one variation or another, but STILL, have a hard time applying it. WHY? I really don't know! Personally, I simply enjoy learning new things so I'm constantly devouring information. I love challenging myself and I like rubbing shoulders with thinkers, so I've cultivated the habit of reading and finding wisdom in anything. Sadly, this information doesn't always turn into practical wisdom right away.

"Faith without works is dead"
- James

I enjoy learning so much that I use to go from one book, to the next one, to the next one, and so on, without FIRST APPLYING THE MAJOR PRINCIPLES from the previous book I read. I was pretty much storing up knowledge. I know! What a waste, right?! When my husband, who is also my built-in accountability partner, noticed my weakness and called me out, (like a good husband should! lol) this led me to start doing things differently. I won't say that I've mastered the ability to distribute and apply knowledge. However, I've adopted a different strategy.

Find Solutions

I select material based on current issues I'm facing. So, let's say I've started a business and I'm struggling with client/customer retention. I find the best resources for customer service, sales, product or service development, etc and I start digging through the information. If I'm having a hard time getting traffic to my blog or building an online presence I dive into marketing and brand building resources. Eating information this way ensures that everything I digest is immediately being put into practice because it solves an immediate need. It solves a direct problem, not a future problem.

Write It Down

So, you think you'll remember all the golden nuggets you received while digging into that book huh? *Shake my head* No, I bet you won't! Lol, by the time you're done, you're going to be scratching your head wondering what value you got out of it. If you study without taking notes you limit your engagement, focus, and overall comprehension. You basically minimize your ROI (return on investment). The investment is your time, money, or anything you sacrificed to get the information. The return is practical, applicable knowledge that enhances your life, future, business, etc. From now Always take notes!

Sniff & Scurry

A few years ago I read a very popular business book titled 'Who Moved My Cheese' by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson (click book title to purchase on Amazon - Side note: this is not sponsored). The four characters Hem, Ha, Sniff, and Scurry represent personality types. Hem and Ha were slow to adapt to necessary change, while Sniff and Scurry moved quickly when they recognized that they had to change their approach to yield better results. After we find solutions and write them down we must IMPLEMENT them. If you don't apply the information you've taken time to soak in YOU'VE WASTED YOUR TIME. I know your ambitious and focused and the last thing you want to do is waste one of your irreplaceable resources so, after you gather solid, information, apply it. Change is good!

I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you!
Until next time, Subscribe here and I challenge you to start applying everything we talked about!

The Gift Of Consistency

February 12, 2018

"Consistency is more important than perfection."
- Unknown

Can I get an "amen" if you've ever heard that consistency is like glue that holds everything together? Do you believe that? If you do, does your life reflect that you believe this? Consistency is one of the HARDEST habits to commit to because it requires daily attention. When you chose to be consistent you're essentially saying to yourself and/or others "you can rely on me to do a, b, c all the time." No holidays, no breaks, no deviations.

Consistency is a keystone habit. It's the foundation to establishing lasting success in any area of your life be it spiritual goals, health goals, financial goals, family goals, anything! Imagine this, you contact a contractor to build a house for you. They share a grand plan and tell you they can complete everything by a specific day. You hire them and check in a few times expecting to see continual progress, but instead you're greeted by inconsistent workers and a project manager that continually changes the plan. Will you continue to trust that this contractor is able to perform the task and complete the work in time? Obviously not! Would you refer them to a friend or rehire them to complete projects for you in the future? I highly doubt it.

So, if you understand the power of consistency and consistent behavior is important to
you, why don't you hold yourself to the same standard you have for others (I'm preaching to myself right here!)? I'll be the first to raise my hand and say I struggle with consistency in some areas of my life so I'm not suggesting perfect consistency. I'm talking about striving for consistency, consistently.

"We become what we want to be by consistently being
what we want to become each day."
- Richard. G. Scott

Stop allowing yourself excuses. Starting today, become the person you know you can be. Decide what you want, create a plan to achieve those things and stick with it come hell or high water. No more indecisiveness, no more double standards. Become a consistent leader, role model, and friend to those you influence around you.

Learning How To Make The Most Of Every Opportunity

February 10, 2018

"What if one opportunity
could change your life?"
- Marie Forleo

Do you remember when you use to pray for the people and opportunities that you now get on a regular basis? Do you remember when your passion convinced you to stay up all night to transition your goals from a  vision to reality? I do. I use to read tons of books, watch a bunch of educational videos, pray A LOT, and do research to prepare myself for where I am now. Don't get twisted. I still have projects up my sleeve, and future endeavors I will accomplish (by the grace of God). But to be honest, after all of my prayers, blood, sweat, and tears, at times, I still somehow manage to take everything I have for granted.

"Choosing to maximize every opportunity proves that
you're ready for growth."
- Tee Forever

Think about how you currently treat your opportunities. Do you value and take them seriously? Or is it just another event? What I define as an opportunity is an open door in the right directionThis can come in any form. Most of our best opportunities will present themselves as an inconvenience, a lot of work, or discomfort. All this proves is that you're being prepared for growth.

This doesn't mean that you're obligated to say "yes" to every opportunity because it looks good. I was once offered a position as a music director, and of course,  I was beyond excited because. This meant growth and experience in an industry that I knew I was born to be apart of. Once the hype of "this is a dream come true!" faded, I talked it over with my husband and quickly realized that although this was an open door in the right direction, it wasn't the best opening for me. A few months after declining the offer, I was presented with a chance to work with a more established organization in a similar position. You already know I took it! Lol, there's NO WAY I was going to pass up another suitable occasion to get into this industry! Lol, all jokes aside. It was the perfect role for me to grow into and although I knew it was going to be a lot of work, and sometimes very inconvenient I accepted the challenge because it was the best opportunity for me.

Learning how to decide between what's good and what's best is vital. None of us want to be distracted by something "good" when we know the "best" is a few steps away. Here are  2 things I consider to ensure that I'm maximizing every opportunity.

1. Big Picture Goals
I shift every opportunity through this filter to ensure that I don't waste my time, and the time of the people or organization involved. How does this opening align with where I'll be in 5-10 years from now? Does this opening help me attain any primary short-term goals? If it's not in line with my 10 year life vision, but it fulfills a short-term goal, I then ask myself, how much time will it take for me to actualize my short-term goal(s)? Once I have my deadlines worked out I ask myself

2. How Will My Family Be Impacted?
To all my parents out there, I know you feel me on this one! Even if you're married or have been in a long term relationship you'll treasure this. We can't allow a seemingly amazing opportunity that will significantly upgrade our lives, child(ren) included, and help us climb our "goal achievement ladder" to distract us from our primary focus, which is our family and individual relationships that matter to us. I always measure how much I'm willing to sacrifice in relation to my family before running through a green light. I have never, and probably will never, decide to commit to something that my husband expresses real, apprehension and uneasiness about. It's not smart. Since we have similar life goals and we're a team leading our family, I respect and value his perspective, and  I know that in some situations he can see things I'm blind to in the moment due to my excitement and everything else buzzing through my mind.

"Small opportunities are often the beginning of great achievements."

Let's Kick Complaining Out The Door

February 5, 2018

"It's not about having time, it's about making time."
- Unknown

Hello! Thanks for coming to chill with me today. If this is your first time, welcome! And if you've been rocking with me for a while, welcome back! So, it's a new year and we're in the second month (already)! Man, this year is going to slip right through your fingers if you don't get your priorities in order.

So because this blog is an extension of who I am I've decided to include you guys in my monthly personal development challenge! Woouuu Hoouuu! This is going to be good! My goal is to spice up your life and help you become the resourceful, productive, and focused, person that I know you are. Before we dive into this months challenge, Hit me up in the comments below or email me at Tee.Forever@Outlook.com and tell me how you did with last months social media challenge. Was it easy? Were you able to maintain your focus? What did you do with your "extra" time? I'd love to hear about your journey. If you weren't able to join in on the challenge, but would like to give it a try read How To Live Out Your Potential

Alright, so this months challenge is....drum roll please!...NO COMPLAINING. I mean, not even a little bit. Haha! Now guys, understand, this will be a HARD one for me as well. According to my husband I complain at least once a day, which in my opinion is counter productive.

"Don't complain about things you're not willing to change."
                      - Unknown

Think about this, complaining is to "express dissatisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs or an event." Yes it feels good to voice your opinions and vent your frustrations, but how does that solve your problem? When you're done venting, the problem will still exist. This month instead of wasting time being upset or annoyed, find solutions.

Stop Getting In Your Own Way

February 3, 2018

"Never share your story for pity"
- Cindy Trimm

I'm sure you have people in your life that you view as having it all together. Their finances are in order, their home and family life seem steady, and they appear to be conquering the world with no problems, right? Wrong. The truth is, no one is exempt from challenging lessons and hard times. If you asked them, without a doubt, I'm sure they would tell you they've been through the fire. They've experienced lonely, empty, desserts that they thought they wouldn't survive. They'll tell you, life wasn't always what you see todayEveryone has a story, journey, and personal process so enjoy yours.

"Success is something you attract by the person you become."
- Jim Rohn

According to worldometers there are over 7 billion people on earth right now. 824,300,000 are undernourished. Many people are living in poverty. In my North American bubble, the unemployment rate is steadily increasing. Life isn't easy, and it won't magically get better for anyone. You have to find solutions! You have to get creative and start building a route to the better life that you know you can have.

Click to tweet

Never adapt a "I need...to be successful" mentality. You know what I mean, right? Don't become a person that always has an excuse for why they can't get ahead in life. Spend time self-reflecting and understand your strengths and weaknesses. Recognize what sparks your interest, what causes you to feel discouraged, and what helps you stay focused. Continue to study yourself and change unhealthy patterns in your mentality and behavior. Stop doubting yourself! Stop over-eating and over-indulging in entertainment and social media. Start adding value to yourself by developing your skills and talents, learn more about industries and subjects that interest you. Always find solutions instead of allowing yourself excuses. After acknowledging these things

"Turn yourself into an asset."
- Tee Forever

I say this with all the love my heart can hold, take responsibility for your life and start building your empire!  Nobody is stopping you, and nobody will ever give you anything you're not able to sustain. Change, grow, and conquer yourself. The level of your growth is in your hands. If you want healthy habits that promote mental peace, financial stability, and good health stop talking about it...
"Just do it"
- Nike

Start doing research, read books, watch informative videos, connect with people that know more than you on this subject. Begin to actively pursue the knowledge that you know can transform your life for the better. The truth is, yes, you've had a hard life, but so have many of us. You're an overcomer. You can be the next community, national, or international success story if you want to be. The only limits that exist are in your mind. Here are two previous post that will further your growth and inspire you to focus! How To Take Responsibility For Your Life and Juggling Responsibilities While Starting A Business

This Monday, February 5th at 11am (EST) I'll be sharing this months personal challenge. Don't miss it. Talk to you then.
