Principles For Success: Take Action

February 27, 2019

This is where your breakthrough lives! Taking action is the spice that brings the flavor out of everything that we discussed this month. Success in your personal life and business only becomes predictable when you TAKE ACTION and apply the principles that we talked about.
You will only be able to convert your time into something of value (whether it's tangible or intangible) when you TAKE ACTION and start managing your time more responsibly, and you will only be able to automate your success when you TAKE ACTION and create a realistic routine that leads to you achieving your ultimate life goals. Trust me, I definitely saved the best principle for last!

How many of you are big action takers? just say "I". Do you enjoy taking risks? Are you quick to apply new information or good idea's that cross your mind? Do you embrace change and look for opportunities to grow? Or on the other hand, are you resistant to adopting anything that disrupts your routine? Have you stopped challenging yourself and dreaming of a better future? It's okay to be honest and admit that this is where you are. Acknowledging your current reality only creates an opportunity for you to create a better future if you want to.

Now, I'm sure you know that achieving your goals is not something that will happen while you sit around watching TV or listening to your favorite album. You need to not only study and master your craft, but you also need to master yourself.

Will this be easy? That depends on you. The more resistant you are to change, the longer your journey will be, and the harder self-discipline will feel. However, if you're tired of feeling stuck, confused, or alone in your goal achievement journey then this principle is for you.

Taking action is about more than just being optimistic or enthusiastic. It's about turning all of your knowledge into an action plan and making it work for you. Every self-help book you've ever read, every business podcast you've ever listened to, and every personal development blog you've ever dived into is full of small nuggets of practical wisdom. If you actually applied everything that you've ever heard about achieving your goals and goal planning there is no doubt in my mind that you would be a major success by now!

Just think about this. You are literally a gold mine waiting to be tapped into. I read a quote years ago that never left my memory. I don't remember who said it, but I'll paraphrase it for you. It goes something like this,

"Your dream is a promise of what is to come".
- Unknown

Your potential is waiting for you to give it an opportunity to shine. You need to understand that you are an answer to somebodies prayers. Your dreams and goals will bless the socks off everyone who gets to experience it. Do you really believe that completing and publishing your first book will only benefit you and make you feel more accomplished? Do you think that losing 10 lbs will only strengthen your confidence and make you feel more secure? Do you think that launching your online business will only bring you personal satisfaction and time freedom? If you said "yes" you're right. Accomplishing these things will inspire you to do more and challenge you to grow as a person, however, you will not be the only person who benefits from your progress and goal achievement.

When you attain your goals you not only inspire others to do the same, but you subconsciously give them permission to go for their dreams, to live without regret and to make the most of their lives. Your actions create a domino effect that ignites hope in their hearts and compels them to try again even if they've failed 20 times.

I can't tell you how many people reach out to me on social media and through email personally thanking me for my weekly blog post as well as my online coaching program 6 Weeks 1 Goal that focuses on serving ambitious women with big dreams. They say things like "I'm inspired by what you do, I love your positive energy you help me come to life, You're energy is so contagious, and so on." You may read these and think they are simply generic comments, but when I read them I hear something totally different. They are telling me "you gave me hope, you helped me to dream again, when I see you take action and live a purposeful life I'm not only inspired to do the same, but I feel empowered to make a difference in my community." These people are ultimately saying, thank you for showing me that achieving my goals is possible and for giving me a better understanding of HOW to do it.

You don't need to become a master at self-discipline to exercise the principle of taking action. You don't need to have a perfect plan and you don't need to execute the plan perfectly. All you need to apply this principle is a vision for where you want to go and a clear first step.

Taking action is the first key you use when conquering your goals. It sets you apart from the people who think, talk, and plan their goals and put you in the category of people who achieve, embody, and become their goals.

Don't allow your circumstances, lack of resources, lack of support, or anything else to stop you. Where things seem to be impossible get creative and find a solution. Where you meet resistance try another door. When you feel lost and in need of guidance reach out to a mentor or a coach. In your goal achievement journey you are never alone!

Principles For Success: Automate Your Success

February 25, 2019

The easiest way to achieve your goals this year is by creating a system that leads to automatic results. What does that mean? For those of you who struggle with getting consistent results pay very close attention. When you break down your goals into baby steps and create a clear, targeted map for how you will get the exact outcome you want you can easily incorporate your goals into your daily routine which will guarantee your progress.

What? It Can't Be That Easy?

Oh, my friend but IT IS! For YEARS I would set goals and make personal commitments to start working out or save 5% of every paycheque (which I never did) and every time I set the goal I would fail. It was almost instant. It happened so often that I eventually became discouraged and stopped writing my goals down on paper. I even stopped talking about them. I thought "if I've been trying to achieve these goals for so long and I'm not making any progress then maybe these goals aren't meant for me. Maybe I should try something less challenging." In other words, I told myself, maybe I should settle and stay right where I am. Living beneath my potential, in a very cozy invisible comfort zone that gave me a false sense of security. I was defeated, disappointed and ashamed because my goals were fairly simple and many people were able to achieve them, but I couldn't. Have you ever felt that way?

Related Post: Principles For Success: Handle Your Most Valuable Asset With Care

At one point I even started to believe myths like "people who are successful with goal planning are born into wealthy families so they can get all the help they need, they are very disciplined and have no social life (which was a high priority for me at the time), or they have access to all the resources and support they need to achieve anything they want so it's easy for them." I was giving into excuses to ease my pain and make myself feel justified, but in reality, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Anyone can succeed in goal planning. I repeat even YOU CAN SUCCEED in goal planning. I made many attempts and failed, but it wasn't because I lacked vision, clarity or a sense of purpose. I strongly believed that my goals were apart of my purpose and I could tell you in detail exactly what I wanted and the deadlines. The problem was that I didn't have a good strategy and I wouldn't listen to anyone that could help me.

If you know one thing about me it's that I'm a personal development junkie! I've been studying psychology, leadership, goals, business, and personal development for years! However, you also know that knowledge doesn't translate into skills! Lol I couldn't magically embody everything that I was learning. I also wasn't self-aware enough to accurately identify key negative triggers in my life so whenever I would try to change based on the new information that I discovered in these books I would fall back into old habits and old ways of thinking when I was faced with a challenge. This kept me in an unproductive cycle of self-sabotage. Ouuuuu! We don't like that word huh?

Stop Dreaming, Start Doing

Once I began to understand time management and the power of having a consistent routine everything changed. I broke my goals down into small, bite-sized steps and made them apart of my schedule. Now here is where it gets juicy!

When I did this, I subconsciously stopped waiting for success to happen to me and became convinced that it would happen for me. Do you see the difference? I went from feeling defeated to having a fire-proof plan, I went from feeling stuck in an unpredictable life to being in charge of my future. Ultimately, I went from being a victim of circumstances to being the dictator of my destiny.

Now, you have to understand, during this transition, I would pray and read the bible constantly. Not because I felt I had to or I was afraid to fail, but because I wanted to put Proverbs 3:5-6 into action.

"Trust in the Lord  with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do & He will show you which path to take."
- Proverbs 3

Practical wisdom is great, but I believe that spiritual wisdom sustains us for the long haul so when you put them together you create a recipe for long-term success! I learned the principle of turning my goals into a daily routine, but because I had a strong belief that my goals were connected to my purpose I needed to maintain my spiritual roots.

Let's Get Practical!

Now here's how you can apply this principle. Take your most challenging goal and turn it into bite-size steps. Write it down and make each step clear, simple, and fairly easy that way your goal remains realistic and achievable. After you've written all of the steps down plug your first step into your schedule. If you're not the type of person that is a detailed planner, it's okay! All you need to do is decide what time of the day is best for you to work on your goal. For example, if you have the most energy in the morning you could work on your goal every day after you brush your teeth, drop the kids off at school, or before you go into work. You could also work on it during your lunch break, immediately after work (if you have a consistent work schedule), or after you eat dinner every night. These events in your schedule will become triggers to remind you that it's time to complete the task that leads you to achieve your ultimate goal.

Now I know this sounds simple and it's very do-able, however, this will be a challenge for you! No matter how disciplined you think you are creating a new routine is never easy. You will get it right on most days and on other days you will forget, be too tired to do anything, or you just won't feel like doing it. These setbacks are okay. What I don't want you to do is give up.

Make Up Your Mind

Once you commit to the process be in it to win it! Be as committed to your goal as you are to your boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse. No one with the intention of marriage starts a relationship and only puts in half of the effort required to make it work. No! You put your best foot forward, court and romance the each other, spend time learning about each other and then make the big plunge.

When you're married the work doesn't stop. To maintain a healthy relationship you continue to support each other, prefer one another above your selves and work together to create a life long healthy relationship that grows into unconditional love and perfect unity when done right.

This is how it is with your goals! You start off dating, you dedicate all of your time to understanding it, you pursue it with all of your energy and then once you attain it you don't stop all of your efforts. You maintain and develop it. You will become a better person as a result of this pursuit. If you give up before you start to see progress you won't get the full experience of your goal. If you slow down and start relaxing while you're building momentum, you will fail. Trust me, I've done BOTH of these many times.

You have to get to a point in your life where you're just tired of your current situation. You're tired of the extra weight, tired of not completing important projects, tired of missing opportunities, and tired of not keeping your promise to yourself. How many times are you going to tell yourself  "yea, I know I made that commit, but right now I'm not in the mood, I don't feel inspired or motivated so I'll get back to it tomorrow."?

This kind of inconsistency will only continue to give you the results that you already have. Stress, disappointment, fear, lack, struggle, insecurity, and the list goes on. You, my friend, are a goal getter. You don't wait for things to change, you create change. You don't hope for your life to get better, you make it better. You don't wish for a solution to your problems you become the solution.

Take your goals and turn them into reality by incorporating them into your daily schedule. I suggest starting with one goal and once you get the hang of your new routine add another. You are the only person who is able to change your life and achieve your goals so why not start today right where you are with exactly what you have? Until next time,

Principles For Success: Handle Your Most Valuable Asset With Care

February 13, 2019

Have you ever wondered what you're supposed to do with time? I mean, I'm sure you've heard about time management, but what exactly does that mean? When I used to think about time management it almost felt like a jail sentence. I thought that if I wanted to be successful I had to abide by a strict schedule that guided me hour by hour and had a consistent weekly routine. Let me tell you, I could not keep up with the schedules I created for longer than a month! Lol, I began to think that I just needed to apply myself more, become more focused, and be more committed, but the truth was I didn't understand the value of time.

"Time is meant to be converted."
Sunday Adelajah

Time is more valuable than money and gold. It's the only invisible substance that life is made out of. With time you can become whoever you want to be, create your wildest dreams and live out your biggest goals. With time you can create a legacy of wealth that lasts for generations after you're gone and build an empire that helps people improve their lives one person at a time. With time you have no limits. Time, my friend, is your greatest resource.

What Are We Suppose To Do With Time?

To tell you the truth, you can do whatever you want with time. You can waste it on social media, spend it with friends and family, or invest it in your goals. All of your activities fall into one of these 3 categories and you get to choose which one.

Wasting Time

Have you ever spent your whole day running around, doing things that seem productive at the moment, but when you sit down and review your day you realize that nothing you did was actually aligned with your immediate goals or where you want to be in the next few years? Girl, me too! I used to allow others to determine my schedule by letting their "emergencies" become my priorities and placing their goals above mine. This was so subtle and below the radar that I wasn't even aware of what was happening! I would give hours of my day to things that had nothing to do with my purpose, goals, or ultimate dreams. Then I would complain when another year went by and I was still stuck in the same position as the previous year not knowing how to achieve my goals.

The problem was that I didn't understand time is an expensive resource, not a cheap commodity. I was wasting my time and giving it away for nothing in return. I didn't use it to develop any skills, turn it into profit, or develop my character. I just let it walk out of the door without demanding anything from it. Are you with me?

Spending Time

Now, this is where a little bit of wisdom kicks in! Spending time is when you trade your time for something beneficial to you. It could be knowledge, experience, money, added value, and so on. This is better than wasting time because at least you're getting something in return. When you waste time you end up with nothing to show for the time that has passed, but when you spend it at least you have a little bit of profit as evidence to reveal exactly what you did with your time.

Productive ways that we can spend our time include but are not limited to education, working, volunteering, training, and so on. Whether you end up with a physical product at the end of the day like money or something invisible like knowledge or understanding you are still benefiting from the time that you spent.

Investing Time

Here is the gold mine! I strive to structure my days with this goal in mind. Investing your time simply means using time to produce the exact results you want. The easiest way to do this is to have weekly and daily goals. For example, every Saturday my goal is to produce 2 blogs including the graphics, links, and quotes. The way that I measure how I spent my time is based on the end result at the end of the day. Did I produce my 2 blogs plus the necessary graphics? If the answer is yes then I am rewarded with a tangible product (my blogs).

What Are We Suppose To Do With Time?

It's very simple. Turn your time into whatever your goal is. Instead of allowing other peoples demands to infringe on your time or trading time for money, start turning your time into the specific goal that you have. Imagine this, what you do with your time over the next 3 weeks will either bring you closer to your goals, help you to feel happy and satisfied with life or will leave you feeling stressed, confused and stuck. It's your choice. Time is meant to be invested. Until next time, xo!

Principles For Success: Your Success Is Predictable

February 11, 2019

Do you want to know a secret I discovered a few years ago? The outcome of your life, goals, and overall success can be predicted! It's not based on luck, chance, good fortune, wealth, having the right connections, being incredibly smart, or going to an elite private school. Your success in life is based on how well you apply principles! Isn't that good news?! Now, you don't have to question whether you can achieve that goal you've been stuck on for months. You don't have to second guess your journey and wonder whether or not you're on the right path. All you have to do is uncover the underlying principles that are connected to your specific goal(s), apply them, and voilĂ ! You will start getting results seemingly overnight.

What Are Principles?

A principle is a fundamental truth that governs a specific outcome. For example, if your goal is to lose 8 lbs per month you have to dig in and discovering the underlying truths about weight loss including eating healthy and exercising on a regular basis. If you want to stop struggling financially and move into living a debt-free lifestyle some basic truths (principles) associated with this goal are living on less than you make and intentionally placing your money exactly where you want it to go (budgeting) instead of impulse shopping that leaves you broke and waiting for your next pay cheque. Does that make sense?

Here are a few examples of popular proverbs that have a golden nugget of hidden truth (principles).

Wise Saying: He who walks with wise men will be wise

Principle: If you want to have good judgment and solid character place yourself among wise people who think clearly.

Wise Saying: Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in forced labor

Principle: You will either endure the pain of self-discipline and do the hard work now or you will suffer the pain of regret and live a life below your dreams.

Wise Saying: Teach children how they should live, and they will remember it all their life

Principle: Any kind of seeds (lessons you teach them and behaviors you model for them) you plant in your kids are the fruits that will be produced in their life. If you want them to be good with money, self-controlled, and thoughtful, model that behavior for them.

Wise Saying: All hard work brings a profit whereas mere talk accomplishes nothing

Principle: Create a plan and then get to work.

Wise Saying: People who cannot control their spending habits end up with nothing

Principle: Without self-discipline, you will lose things that are the most valuable to you ( yourself, the respect of others, your family, time, and so on).

Principles are proven, tried and tested, age-old, irrefutable facts that work for anyone regardless of their experience, race, age, location, income, intelligence, net-worth, skill level, religion, family history, network and so on. You could be born into a rich family and still find yourself struggling to hit your goals because you are ignoring the basic truths that you need to apply to get the outcome that you want or you could be born in the middle of nowhere to parents who aren't educated and struggle to feed you every month, but if you understand and apply the simple truths (principles) related to your goal you will achieve it every single time. Are you following me?

There are billions of principles operating in the world that help to keep the cycle of success going. How do think people are able to achieve success time and time again and we now have more than 36 millionaires worldwide!? Do you think this happens coincidentally? Do you think they somehow got lucky and found the horseshoe that turned them into millionaires? Lol, not a chance! (see what I did there ;) haha!).

This is why I tell you all the time if someone has achieved a specific goal that you also want to achieve you don't need to compare your intelligence, skills, or ability to theirs. You should instead view them as a source of inspiration! They are a reflection of what's possible for you. They are a guide to your "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow. They have learned insights and gems (principles) that can help you get the same results if you humble yourself and allow them to teach you. They have become tangible confirmation for you to know that your goals are totally attainable.

To learn from them you can read their books, study their life, watch interviews, and so on. If you know them personally you can spend time with them, ask questions, listen to their story and keep your ears open for reoccurring themes (principles) like being like being diligent, focusing on one thing at a time, perseverance, and so on.

If you want to succeed in business, relationships, money management, parenting, weight loss, whatever it is all you need is to find someone who has attained the level of success that you want and implement the SAME principles that they used. You can get the same results as them by using the same principles because principles never change. If it worked for them, it will work for you and guess what? The opposite is true as well. If it didn't work for them then it won't work for you!

If someone is failing miserably in marriage, has bad relationships with their kids, and is always struggling to keep money to the end of the month are you going to ask them for relationship or money management advice, follow their strategy, or adhere to the principles they use? Lol, *shake my head* not even close! You're going to strive to do the EXACT OPPOSITE of what they're doing because you can clearly see that what they are doing, the formula they are using is not working and you want something that works, right!?

How Does This Work?

Let me guess, this sounds way too easy right? I'm telling you the key to achieving the goal you've been struggling to achieve for years is knowing the principles and you're thinking there has to be more to it than just that. Well if you thought that, you're right. The concept is simple, but getting it done is where the challenge kicks in.

You have to not only put in the work to identify the right principles related to your goal, but you also have to apply it. I mean, what is knowledge without application? That's like an apple tree without apples at harvest time. A huge waste of space and effort.

Principles only work when applied consistently. You can't try it for a month and then say "it doesn't work, I tried it." You have to give the seeds that you plant some time to take root. First, you have to work through the junk that you have built up for years that has kept you stuck unable to hit your goals. Then you can plant the new seeds (principles) that will lead you to long-term success and help you to develop your character. After you build some consistency you will start seeing results and before you know it you'll be onto life goal number 2 feeling confident and proud of the person you've become.

Why Do I Need Them?

Principles make your life predictable! It's like math. We all know that 1+1 will always equal 2 and 2+2 will always equal 4. No matter what we've experienced or whether or people agree or not facts are unchanging. Your success is predictable. You don't have to wonder if your goal is possible or not you just have to learn the principles. You don't have to doubt if it can be done you just have to learn the principles. You don't have to wait for your life to improve you just have to put yourself out there and learn the principles!

Stop holding yourself back with all of the doubt, fear, and limited thinking. You are capable of achieving anything that you envision. You have the power to achieve your goals starting right where you are. Commit to the process, overcome your fears and make 2019 your year of having and experiencing God's best for you! Until next time, xo!

Principles For Success: I'm Spilling All The Goods!

February 4, 2019

Last month we talked about believing in yourself even when nobody else does, discovering what makes you unique, and daring to walk an uncommon path to produce the uncommon life of your dreams. These topics weren't just good idea's that I wanted to write about, they were personal. You might read my blogs or follow me on social media and think "this girl will definitely acheive all of her goals, she has it all together, she's done well for herself, she is on her way to greatness..." but to tell you the truth, I've been exactly where many of you are today. I know what it feels like to want to give up on a goal that you've held onto for years.

I used to thoroughly plan out my goals, start executing it and then get distracted by the lack of supportive people around me or become discouraged by my personal lack of progress if I didn't see results within a specific amount of time. I was so committed, enthusiastic, and passionate about getting the end result, but I didn't know what I was doing.

I didn't understand some of the basic laws and principles related to goal achievement. I didn't know that my success can be guaranteed if I learn and apply things that successful people in my industry do. The simple fact is that I didn't know what I didn't know and this is a common issue for many goal-getters with big dreams.

They work their butt off trying to achieve a goal with the tools that they have (which is good) and after a while of being stuck in the same position or seeing minimal results they begin to feel discouraged, angry,  jealous, bitter, or hopeless.

The problem is never the goal.
It's the person trying to achieve
the goal.

-Tee Forever

If you get stuck without a clear solution to move your goals forward take a break and invest in yourself. Try to identify your specific roadblocks and learn about the various solutions for that problem. Here's an example, if you run a service based business and you're having a hard time attracting clients on a regular basis instead of getting stressed and feeling like a failure, take a break and examine which part of your lead generation funnel isn't working (is it your targeting, lead page, marketing, etc). Once you identify the main problem devote your time to finding solutions. Talk to your colleagues, read books on the topic, learn as much as you can and then apply the new information you've learned. Keep what works and find ways to improve what isn't.

Related post: A Lack Of Resources Is Never The Problem

Now before you get lost in your emotions and start doubting if you will get results let me tell you that this is not for an elite, special group of people. Success in goal achievement is for EVERYONE! You don't need to have experience, know the right people, or be wealthy. All you need is to be committed to your processs.

Don't quit when things get hard, don't stop when everyone you talk to tells you "you're product/service is great, but it's not what I need right now", don't get discouraged when big brands don't want to sponsor your event or work with you as a brand ambassor. Trust me, in some seasons you will hear more "no's" than "yes", you will feel like you're pursuing the wrong goal and be tempted to let it all go, but the truth is you need to keep going.

My friend, I write these blogs not only to inspire and motivate you, but also to remind you that no matter how big your goals are, they are 100% attainable. If you don't give up but instead start working on yourself, your life will change. After a few weeks of applying these nuggets I'm going to give you throughout this month for FREE you will see HUGE results in a short amount of time even if you struggle with fear, self-confidence, self-discipline and don't have any goal planning experience.

You may be wondering why I'm doing this? Lol well, I'm passionate about seeing you succeed! I want you to achieve your goals as much as I want to achieve mine! I know that you are full of potential and you have amazing God-given ideas and dreams floating around in your mind, but you may not know where to start, or you may just need to work on your mindset and personal beliefs, or you may need to reinvent yourself. No matter what your core issue is I know that if you're open to investing in yourself you will go from being a big dreamer who is passionate about your goals to becoming a high achiever who crushes your goals one step at a time!

I'm going to warn you right now, sometimes working towards your goal hurts because you're not ready to deal with the truth. You're not ready to admit that you don't know what you're doing,  you need help, or the strategy that you put so much money into is not working. Instead of delaying your progress by feeling offended process the offense or whatever emotion your feeling and press on. Stay focused on your goal, not your thoughts, personal preferences, or feelings. When you do this you allow the truth to set you free.

This month I'm going to challenge you to take things up to the next level, do things you only thought about doing, and begin stepping into your destiny. I believe in you, I know you believe in yourself, so let's get the ball rolling on your goals shall we? Until next time, xo!
