5 Things I Am Afraid to Tell You

April 6, 2020

This is not the typical stuff we normally talk about on the podcast. Today, we're going DEEP! Before you hit play beware that this conversation might have you in tears by the end. In this episode, I'm taking off the mask, allowing you to see my heart, and trusting that this will be the beginning of something new, something real, and something I've been looking for, for a while.

Today, I want to take our relationship to the next level. Are you ready? Hit play and let's chat!

Book club

I know we haven't done the book club in 2 whole months but THIS MONTH we are getting back into it. Oh, and don't get it twisted! Don't think because WE haven't done it that I haven't been reading! Haha, you already know you're girl can not put a book down! Reading is apart of my life, I love it hence why I started a book club this year!

So, while we've been taking a break, I've been getting my feet wet in some heavy purpose related books, brain science, and neurology books, as well as habit and psychology books! We are going to dive into some pretty cool stuff this year, but before we do I wanted to get you in the habit of reading again so I've got something short and sweet for you!

Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. This book is super relatable right now because of what we're all currently experiencing with this corona pandemic. The theme of this book is change. How to deal with it? When to start? How to manage your emotions, and everything else that goes with it.

You can order a copy from Amazon here - No this is NOT an affiliate link. I simply love the book and want to read it with you this month.

You can also watch a quick summary of the book here on Youtube before you buy it.

You can also listen to the whole thing here for FREE on audible (if you are not a member you can get a FREE 30-day trial)!

I also found this Youtube version of the audiobook. Not sure how long this will be up but you can listen to it here while it's up. You will probably enjoy the audible version better...it's better quality just saying!

5 Things I Am Afraid to Tell You

1. When I look at myself in a mirror the first thing I look for is...flaws

Instead of celebrating how beautiful I am and looking for reasons to appreciate myself lately I've been looking for ways to make myself more "socially acceptable". You know, things like...removing dark circles under my eyes, getting rid of any excess "baby weight" or some call it "mommy tummy". Small things that don't matter in the grand scheme of life, but when you want to be socially accepted or approved these things can weigh you down.

You might be able to relate? According to research, 56% of women say they are dissatisfied with their overall appearance and out of that percentage, 71% say it's related to their abdomens, 66% say it's their body weight, 60% are dissatisfied with their hips, and 58% don't like their muscle tone.

If you thought this was something that only us ladies struggle with, check again. In this same study, the majority of men showed the same dissatisfaction with their abdomens making up 63% of the men who participated in this study. Weight was right behind that coming in at 52%. Hit play to hear my full thoughts on this.

2. I struggle with procrastination and self-sabotage

Whaaaaat! Now that's a trip! Me, the girl who is always encouraging you to crush your goals and be the greatest version of yourself actually struggles with the same things you do!? Right about now I'm sure you're thinking...

You mean to tell me Tee, that you struggle with fear? Yep. Self-sabotage? Everyday! Overthinking? At least once a week. And Self-doubt? Lol, who doesn't?! Lol, now before you start throwing stones I want you to hear me out. Hit play and let me explain!

3. I don't like to experience negative emotions

Now before you read this and think it's a good thing go back to the top, hit play and listen while I explain why this is not a good thing for me. Spoiler alert, not processing your REAL feelings and emotions is not healthy. Blissful ignorance does not help anybody.

4. I actually wrestle with a fear of success

This one might throw you off, but I'm afraid of offending people by my brilliance. I don't want to shine too bright, I don't want to be the most excited, vibrant person in the room. I don't want to be the center of attention or be called a "leader".

I know this might sound silly, and I know that my shine does not take away from anyone else, but I don't want to offend any by being authentic, being the greatest version of myself, and actually "winning" hitting my goals and beyond. This is why I don't always share things with you that I know can benefit you like how I took my income from $0 to 10k in less than 90-days or how I took my business from 0 clients to overbooked in less than 2 weeks.

Call me crazy, but I have been afraid of offending people by being "successful" (hitting my goals, living my ideals, following my dreams, pursuing my purpose). Hit play for a deep dive

5. I am not going to write this one because it's sensitive

Many people have experienced this and I don't want to trigger any bad memories or feelings for anyone so full disclaimer if you have been abused in any way, are dealing with an open wound related to abuse, or just don't like talking about this kind of thing then don't listen to this episode. It's not for you.

Whew! Now that we got all of that out of the way I feel like I should re-introduce myself and we can start a brand new relationship built on trust, authenticity, and real unconditional love. Are you with me?

Hi, my name is Tee and I love fish tacos, lasagna and anything to do with...My favorite thing to wear is ripped jeans and you can find me walking along the lake pushing a double stroller singing Thank You For My Life/Dear God by Smokie Norful! Now, it's your turn. Hit me up on IG and tell me a little something about you!
