Behind The Scenes: Summary of My First Quarter

Can you believe we’re already in the second quarter of the year! Woooouuu! I’m excited. The first quarter felt short but I feel like I was able to use that time efficiently. In this episode, I’m going to be totally honest and share a review of my last quarter! Hit play and let’s go!

I’ve had this idea to share reviews with you for a while now. My goal is that you can learn something helpful from my lessons, mistakes, and successes. Come along with me on my journey to freedom, authentic living, and growing a business that aligns with my purpose.

I failed

Right off the bat, I’m going to tell you that I didn’t hit all of my goals last quarter (and I’m totally okay with that). As you listen to this entire episode you will hear why and you will also get a debrief on some of the lessons I learned but before we jump into things I just want to share a quick update:

First of all, I’ve been thinking about ways that I can support you during this whole pandemic. I know many of you are experiencing real-life situations like unemployment, loneliness due to the isolation, and straight-up fear because everything is changing and you’re not sure what the future holds.

So I want you to know that you’re not alone, the whole world is going through this with you and we are all trying to figure this out together. I also want you to know that I really do care about what you’re experiencing and I’m putting together some resources that you can use to help you create a sense of stability in your life because here’s the reality, things are changing and life from this point on will never be the same and this is good.

You now have the option to either play the victim and give up on your goals to create your ideal life  and explore your biggest dreams OR you can use this time to explore your options, create opportunities for yourself, and start living a brand new life. You know, the one you always envisioned for yourself. The choice is yours.

This pandemic will either push you closer to aligning with your purpose or it will distract you from it, but you choose the effect that it has on you. If you’re here, reading this then I know you want to use this time to get aligned so I’ll let you know when I have the resources ready for you!

Also, JOIN ME IN OUR free brand new online community! I decided to create this online space for us because like that old proverb says “iron sharpens iron”. We need each other. Birds of a feather flock together. I never understood this concept until last year, but studies have shown that we become like the people closest to us. This means if you’re around people who have big dreams but never take action, prefer to be on social media than work on their goals, don’t know their purpose, and are straight-up lazy then most likely you will fall into the same habits and ways of being (adopt the same character).

I want to build this community so that you can be around other like-minded people who will push you to become the rock star goal-getter that you know lives inside of you. No more thinking big and then hoping it comes true. Surround yourself with people who dream as big as you and are committed to making it a reality!

Since I’ll also be in this community we can:

  • Have Monthly Coaching Sessions
  • Q&A Sessions to get your biggest questions answered!
  • Fun Networking Opportunities
  • And so much more!

If you know me then you already know it’s going to be a lot of fun. Join me now!

Quarter One Review:

So I had quite a few goals this quarter varying from business to marriage. I don’t want to bore you with all the details or keep you here for the next 3 hours lol so I will share a review of my business goals and the important lessons I learned in the last 90-days. Let’s go!

The Goal:

My goal from January – March was to organize the back end of my business, establish clear processes and workflows and to get my team to be more efficient so that we can increase productivity and I can take my hands off the weekly content production wheel by using more automation tools like scheduling and so on.
The second goal was to help 15 big dreamers from this community to align with their purpose and turn their goals into something tangible. Whether their dream was to write a book, start an online business, create a movement, increase their impact, or simply strengthen their relationship with themself so that they can live a purposeful life I wanted to help.

The Method: What did I do?

With these two goals in mind here is what I did.
The Automation Test: The idea for this came to me while I was struggling to keep up with my ideal posting schedule for social media. As many of you know my jam is the gram! So I want to be posting on my feed at least 3 times a week and posting on IG stories every day and here’s why.
1. It builds Connection
Social media is meant to be a social platform to create connections and community giving people a sense of belonging. On Instagram, I’ve been able to connect with a lot of people and I want to support as many of them as I can to tap into purpose and explore their potential. The best way I know how to do this is by being an example.
2. Solidifies our relationship
Since social media is a tool for connection I love sharing the behind the scene aspects of my life (and sometimes business) that I don’t normally blog or podcast about. For me, this deepens our connection and allows us to have conversations around things like parenting, marriage, and finances.
3. Allows me to get to know you
Free market research! I mean for all of my entrepreneurial dreamers out there Instagram provides a free platform for you to get to know your audience, establish a community, and step up and be a leader.

People ask me all the time, how can I grow my following, the answer is simple, be a leader. Why would anyone want to follow you when all you post is what you ate for breakfast, how cute your cat is, and your outfit of the day. All of that stuff is great if you just want to blend in and be like everyone else (which I know you don’t).

What will allow you the stand out in a place like Instagram is having a strong, compelling message that lets people know how you can help them so that they can decide whether they would benefit from following you or not.

Automation Tools:

Thankfully my husband is a marketing genius so this process didn’t take too long. I was looking for tools that would help me to post consistently without having to be on the app all of the time because let’s face it, Instagram can be a time sucker if you’re not careful!
He gave me some great recommendations for tools that I could use to begin automating my social media posts including:

  1. Facebook Studio – This is good for scheduling Facebook and Instagram feed post as well as IGTV posts. You can track the amount of engagement you get on every post including stories, feed, IGTV, and carousels. However, you can not automate IG story posts or carousels.
  2. Plann – This tool is great for mapping out your feed, writing captions, and scheduling post. It didn’t quite scratch my itch because it doesn’t automatically post for you it will only send a notification to your phone saying “it’s time to post!” which for me defeats the purpose of automation which is to be 100% hands-off.
  3. Later – I have not tried this yet. I have heard nothing but good things about it. If you have used this send me a DM on IG and let me know your thoughts!
The Masterclass: During quarter one I also hosted masterclasses once a week in the month of February until the first week of March. It was so much funnnnn! My goal with this was to teach people who were ready to take action on their goals how to maximize their effort, be efficient and actually get results in less than 90-days! If you attended thank you! I hope you had as much fun as I did! I definitely want to do this again maybe during the 3rd quarter.

The Result: How did it go?

Automation: I ultimately decided to go with Facebook Studio because it fits my needs for now. It shows me the analytics for all of my IG posts including stories, allows me to schedule to my feed or IGTV, and it’s very simple to use. In the future, I may switch over to Later because it allows you to schedule posts to IG stories, but for now Facebook Studio is great.

Live Masterclass: Brace yourself this is INCREDIBLE! I had almost 50 people register over the course of 4 weeks to join me live in this FREE training which absolutely blew my mind. I was excited about this because this definitely reflects PROGRESS! Keep reading and I’ll explain!

The Lesson:

Automation: When I’m ready to step up my game, get organized, have a posting schedule, and actually be consistent then these tools will be an asset to my business, but if I am inconsistent as a person then nothing I use will fix the problem. Hit play to hear more.

Live Masterclass: The first time I hosted this training I got a few sign ups but it was nowhere near 50 people. This time people would not stop signing up. I even got notified by my email provider that people were still signing up even after all the promotion had ended and the classes were over! Haha, This was awesome! Hit play to hear my biggest lesson from all of this.

Summary:

Last quarter wasn’t as productive as I hoped it would be, but on the same token, I was not as focused as I could have been. The biggest lesson I learned from the last quarter is to be integral. Follow through on what you say you’re going to do and the results will follow. Until next time big dreamers! Your accountability partner! Xo.
